Hard to get away from the grim news bulletins these days, so to lighten things up a bit some new photos from Visions instead. We have a Facebook page for our members where we post our photos. And that is where I found these recent photos, all taken in the month of January.
Just to give you an idea what we have been up to on FB and our first trip of the year, and a few holiday snaps from members that escaped the nearly non stop rain from the last few weeks.

Early start for some Visionaries at Dunnottar Castle. Dave Lynch

Mark Bisset came back with this long exposure B&W version.

Kevin Dawson captured a colour image of the sunrise behind the castle ruins.

Zoomed in on the ruins – Stephen Lynch

Charitha Wijesiriwardana came back with several variations on the Dunnottar theme. I liked this dramatic one.

After the shoot some well earned coffee and cake in Stonehaven. DL

Douglas McKay had a go at a mini project of photos taken through glass.

David Drage inspired by a talk on multiple exposures made this fun image of cranes at the harbour.

Nice lighting and colours in this drone pano by Mark.

Hugh Smith found these amazing mushrooms.
And now for some not so local photos. And you can’t really blame anybody escaping the cold and damp here.

Some members of the club went to warmer places like Sri Lanka – Alan McClean

Mags Grosvenor obviously not in Aberdeen either., Oman looks a lot sunnier.

Fun use of a slow shutter speed by Mags Grosvenor.

Less is more – lovely shot by Mags Grosvenor

Cartagena in Bolivia by Lynda Gordon

Harbour a bit closer to home by Trevor Stuchbury

Back in “Sunny Scotland” meanwhile David Drage took this moody shot in our hometown.

Not afraid to go out in stormy weather – Andy Reader

Mark Bisset was out at the Aberdeen harbour mouth watching the waves.

Shooting the waves: Dave Lynch in action from the comfort of his camper van.

And here is Dave Lynch’s shot of a gull and a wave. Nice action shot.

Dave Lynch also took this one.

Ian Taggart was there too.

And Stephen Lynch was there also a few day later.
Portrait evening at the club

LED lighting setup with a patient club member posing, and the flash set ups at the back of the hall.

I like the colours of this shot by Kirsty Russell. Taken on our portrait evening.

Andy Reader didn’t manage to make Bob smile. Nice moody portrait I think.

We had two set ups with flash and one with led panels, this one with the latter. RR

Lovely portrait, but not shot on our fabulous portrait evening, instead Lynda Gordon mailed this in from Colombia.

Meanwhile in Aberdeenshire Sue Heard snapped the aurora from her back garden.
And hard to believe now after all this rain, but we did have some great photo opportunities during the snowy spell earlier in January.

The beginning of January brought lots of snow and some lovely colours at sunset. Took this one a few hundred meters from our house – Rob R

Another shot about half an hour later – this light only lasted a few minutes – RR

Kirsty Russell found this amazing hair ice on a dead branch of a tree. Caused by a fungus apparently.

And another beautiful graphic winter shot from Aberdeen by Graeme Youngson, also just close to his house.
And this was just the month of January……
